Greece boat accident: 'Swimmed in the sea for an hour, unfortunately could not save colleagues from drowning' Part 2

The helicopter was lighting from above and they were rescuing below.

Haseeb says that we spent the night on the ship which was moving in the sea. At six or seven in the morning another ship came, on which we boarded, and at eleven or twelve o'clock we arrived at Kalamata. At that time we did not know the exact time and I am giving an estimate based on the heat of the day.

According to him, after that they kept us in emergency. Those who had health problems were taken to the hospital and we were lucky enough to eat there after four days. I thank the government of Greece, their support teams, their doctors.

How did Haseeb and other migrants go to Libya from Karachi?

Pakistani migrants who survived the Greece boat crash have said they were taken to the Mediterranean Sea by human traffickers and their agents.

Haseeb says that he left for Dubai on March 20 from Karachi. Then waited 16, 17 hours in Dubai and took a flight to Egypt the next day which was four and a half hours.

"Probably at eight o'clock at night, we left for Benghazi Airport in Libya."

Haseeb says that I came from Karachi to Dubai, from Dubai I went to Egypt and from Egypt to Libya. Benghazi airport in Libya is visited by the same people who have to travel to Italy. I did not talk to the agent, 22 lakh rupees was paid by Arshad Sharif on my behalf, all arrangements were made by him.

In response to the question whether there was an agent at Karachi Airport or not, Haseeb said, "We don't know who the agent is, we are only told to go to such and such terminal." I myself took my passport. When I went to Karachi Airport, I was not alone there. There were about 20 other people.

Hasib said that when I went and sat there, the people sitting there (waiting) said, "You also want to go to Libya?" So I answered yes.

He and the boys who came with me said that your passport will be collected at such and such a counter, so we got ready for the trip and went to Dubai.

According to him, after reaching Benghazi from Karachi and other places, everyone moves here and there.

He said that 'arriving at Benghazi, those people come to pick us up at the airport themselves, they have a copy of our passport and photos.'

According to Haseeb, they took us to a place where our luggage was supposed to arrive and took our passports. They took our passports from us and put them on the counter like garbage. We went to our residence and after two to three days we got our passports.

Haseeb says that they could not provide food in any part of Libya. This whole journey is done at night, sometimes in a car, sometimes in a Vigo, sometimes in a truck.

Even on the day of Eid, I could not contact my family. The family members also got worried and started crying. According to Haseeb, 'These people take the phone first so that we cannot tell about hunger and thirst at home and there is no noise.'

According to them, after that they keep moving us from one place to another. Then he started his journey to Italy on June 9. We were put in a container and brought to the seashore.

They say that 'as soon as we get down there, we are told to go, sometimes we run and sometimes we walk. Everyone tries to be ahead and come first.

According to Haseeb, 'we were taken out of the container at around four in the morning. The big boat is boarded by speedboat. They hold someone by the arm and pull someone up by the clothes. People are pulled out like a car with chickens.

He said that "when we sat down from Libya, we have to sit where the Libyans sit on the seats, the one who is seated in front cannot come back and the one behind cannot go forward."

"The boat was fine for two days in the beginning, then sometimes it was bad for an hour, sometimes it was bad for five hours, then it was bad for a whole night, so they thought that it was the last day."

On the last day, the boat closed at 12 to 1 p.m., then left at 4 or 4:30 p.m. Then it stopped at seven and half past seven and kept swinging here and there, sometimes here and there.

Haseeb has appealed that 'those who are in Libya, I request them to go back to Pakistan.'

Why was Haseeb forced to leave Kashmir?

Haseeb said that he used to work as a bike mechanic, for which he did not get wages and the conditions in Kashmir were not good even near the Line of Control. Call the family there too.'

He says that 'Overseas Pakistanis have also helped us a lot who came here to meet us. I thank them too.

He says that four people including him have decided to stay in the camp. He currently wants to stay in Greece because "the situation in Kashmir is not good enough for us to go back."
